To play the computer game, you can use your arrow keys to move the spaceship through the maze. But that game is hard and not essential.
The person who left the note under the desk maybe meant to point people to the E.T. Movie page, but didn't realize the page might change location. What you are supposed to figure out from the note under the desk is the first name of the E.T. director (use lower case letters). Once you use the password correctly, you get a fork. The fork and string combined will help you open the ceiling grate to get out.

Moved curtain 3X, tool falls out..
Found trunk key in E.T. book..
Pried left tack from poster with tool..
Opened trunk with key..
Popped balloon with tack..
Got balloon string..
Found a note under the table..
